The Radiant Fashionista Part III: Eye Cream and Moisturizer
Happy Sunday fashionistas! We are back today with our guest blogger Sara Meyer, La Chele Medical Aesthetics Marketing & Retail Specialist and Licensed Esthetician. This week has been a blend of rain, snow and shine - all natural weather occurrences that can have a direct effect on your skin. So this week Ms. Meyer will lead a discussion on the importance of eye creams and moisturizers so that you can help your skin deal with this variable weather! So... let's get on our way to achieving younger looking and more radiant skin! If you all remember, the last two Sundays we discussed the first four steps in morning skin care. The first is making sure you properly cleanse your skin and effectively exfoliate. [Get started on the first post here with The Radiant Fashionista: Cleansers & Exfoliators] Next, is making sure you utilize toner to restore your skin's pH balance. The third step is the use of serum to help active substances penetrate deeper into your skin and help with a variety of different things including anti-aging, acne control, etc. [Click to view The Radiant Fashionista Part II: Toners & Serums.] According to Ms. Meyer, "The eyes are the first to show signs of aging! But why? Well, the skin around the eyes is different from the skin that composes the rest of your face. The skin around your eye is thinner and therefore more vulnerable to stressors. How can you combat fine lines and wrinkles? The key is treating the skin around your eyes with products formulated specifically for that region. The primary goal of eye creams is to restore elasticity and firmness; eye creams are also formulated to eliminate dark circles and diminish fine lines. Treating the skin around your eyes with the correct products can result in younger, brighter looking eyes. However, one of the questions that I get all the time is: I am only in my mid-twenties, do I really need to begin eye care now? The answer: ABSOLUTELY! Everyone should be utilizing an eye cream regardless of your age! Starting early will help keep the area around your eyes hydrated and prevent fine lines from forming. Some all time favorite eye creams are listed below: Hydropeptide Eye Authority Cosmedix Eye Genius La Chele Medical Aesthetics RegenEyes
BENEFIANCE WrinkleResist24 Intensive Eye Contour Cream The next step in your regimen should be moisturizing! Using a daily moisturizer is imperative to maintaining healthy, younger looking skin. Moisturizers hydrate the skin, keeping it supple and helping to diminish fine lines from setting in. Many clients with oily skin sometimes think the worst product they could use is a moisturizer because they have oily skin. This is a myth. Do not confuse oil with hydration! Everyone needs to keep his or her skin hydrated throughout the day. In fact if you have oily skin and do not use a moisturizer, your skin will produce more oil in order to compensate for the loss of hydration. When choosing your moisturizer you can go with a lightweight, oil-free option that will give you the hydration you need without it feeling heavy. Some of my favorite moisturizers include: Origins Make A Difference Moisturizer This rejuvenating moisturizer helps repair the natural moisture deficiency in dry, dehydrated skin.Clinically proven to instantly boost skin's moisture reservoir to keep it hydrated and rejuvenated all day. Skin Strengthening Complex This light-weight daily treatment moisturizer delivers continual moisture as well as barrier-building benefits of clinical strength Pro-Niacin, for visibly firmer, more even skin tone and texture.
