The Radiant Fashionista Part VI: Night Regimen – Eye Cream & Moisturizer

Good afternoon fashionistas! Today we're welcoming back guest blogger Sara Meyer, Marketing & Retail Specialist at La Chele Medical Aesthetics in New Hope, Pennsylvania and Licensed Esthetician. An upcoming trip to Las Vegas inspired today's post, which is all about caring for your skin, even when your heading to bed in the early hours, consuming more cosmos than you can count, and exposing your skin to all sorts of pollutants. This is the time your skin needs YOU the most! When your sleeping schedule is compromised, your night time skin regimen becomes even more important. And a pattern of late nights and prolonged periods of wearing makeup without cleaning and refreshing, can start to take a toll on your face. Remember, your skin thrives when it is well rested and make-up free, so it is EXTREMELY important that you give it the breaks it needs at the end of a long day! This is also the last part of Ms. Meyer's six part guest blog series... so lets get started on the path to a healthier more radiant you! If you all remember, the last four Sundays and this past Monday we discussed the first seven steps in morning skin care and the first two steps in evening skin care. Step 1 is making sure you properly cleanse your skin and effectively exfoliate. [Get started on the first post here with The Radiant Fashionista: Cleansers & Exfoliators.]  Step 2 is making sure you utilize toner to restore your skin’s pH balance. Step 3 requires the use of serum to help active substances penetrate deeper into your skin and help with a variety of different things including anti-aging, acne control, etc. [Click to view The Radiant Fashionista Part II: Toners & Serums.] Step 4 involves treating the skin around your eyes with the appropriate eye cream and step 5 is remembering that hydrated skin is healthy skin and therefore you MUST moisturize. [Click to view The Radiant Fashionista Part III: Eye Cream & Moisturizer]. Step 7, which was discussed in last weeks guest post was how to best protect your skin from the sun! [Click to view The Radiant Fashionista Part IV: Sun Screen]. Step 1 in your evening skin care regimen is make-up removal. Step 2 requires a mild but effective exfoliation to rid the surface of your skin of dead skin cells. Step 3 (if you are over the age of 30) is using a Retin-A cream that is well suited to your skin. [Click to view The Radiant Fashionista Part V: Night Regimen - Make-Up Removal, Exfoliation and Retin A Cream]. Ms. Meyer states: "...step 4 in your nighttime regimen is utilizing an effective eye cream. As mentioned previously, the skin around the eyes is very delicate. It is important to treat the skin around your eyes twice a day (morning and evening) with an eye cream to reduce the signs of aging. However, some women find that certain eye-creams although effective, are thicker and can appear more "oily" than others. It is these thicker eye-creams that can be effectively used in the evening - the skin around your eyes then has ample time to absorb the cream and will not affect make-up application in the AM! Some of the eye care products I just can't seem to do without include: WHITE LUCENT Anti-Dark Circles Eye Cream by Shiseido - Plagued by dark circles? This is the eye cream for you! It is formulated to fade existing pigmentation under and around the eyes, and also improves microcirculation - giving you a brighter and more radiant look. It can be used not only for the skin around your eyes but also for the area around your lips, which is prone to fine lines and wrinkles as well. Screen Shot 2015-02-10 at 2.52.23 PM TNS Eye Repair by SkinMedica - Use this eye cream if you've got normal to dry skin, as  it helps to  hydrate the skin around your eyes, while actively working to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Screen Shot 2015-02-10 at 3.00.38 PM The final step in your night time skin care regimen should be the use of a rich moisturizer. Sleep is imperative for your mind and your body. While you are sleeping, the body attempts to heal itself. Make sure that when you head to bed, you've applied a rich, anti-aging moisturizer. This will help lock in moisture all night long - allowing your skin to receive the full benefits of your anti-aging products. Some of my go-to night-time moisturizers include: Regenerist Luminous Tone Perfecting Cream by Olay Screen Shot 2015-02-10 at 3.17.17 PM ProX Hydra Firming Cream Screen Shot 2015-02-10 at 3.18.42 PM Dermal Repair Cream by SkinMedica Screen Shot 2015-02-10 at 3.21.12 PM Power Lift by HydroPeptide Screen Shot 2015-02-10 at 3.22.39 PM A big thank you to The Radiant Fashionista for providing some much-needed insights on skin care and how to get started on creating a personalized day and nighttime regimen.
