TREND ALERT: The 'IT' Styles of Spring

TREND ALERT: The 'IT' Styles of Spring

With the conclusion of Milan and London Fashion Week's in February, Paris Fashion Week earlier this month, and Tokyo Fashion Week now in full swing, it can be a challenge identifying what styles translate well from the runway, to the everyday, and which pieces are worth the investment. To keep your look fresh and on trend, we've created a LILA style wall (think: interactive storyboard) with the styles that are having a major 'moment' this season!

1. FLORAL Floral is IN this spring -  and just in time for Easter! Whether you're dressing for brunch with the whole family, or your celebrations are a little more low key, you'll want to opt for this sweet playful pattern in soft pastels for a fresh and modern look. Colors that make the line-up? Think candy colored hues like pale pink, mint green and powder blue for a little sweetshop-worthy inspiration.

2. SUEDE If the flashy Milan & Paris Fashion Shows told us anything, it's that suede is back. In a BIG way. Designers like Gucci, Derek Lam, Chloe and Jason Wu debuted this textured fabric on the runway in refreshing new ways for spring. And we have feeling it will be making a major splash in designer collections through the fall as well!  For a few ways (ok, 16 of them!) to style suede this spring, head on over to InStyle!

3. DENIM We've got a denim habit we can't break. One of the most exciting trends to see back on the runway is the denim jacket. Casual and stylish, it one of those staple pieces every lady should keep in her closet! Pair your denim jacket over a floral dress (mini or maxi - it's your call!) and gladiator sandals, or try an edgier denim on denim look by coupling it with your favorite skinnies or chambray button down.  For tips on denim-ing up your wardrobe, the team at Elle UK have a few bright ideas to get you started with 'The Denim Edit".

4. THE FLARED PANT You either love it, or you hate it. But the 70s style retro trend you thought you'd never see again, is back. Say hello to the flared pant! We here at LILA HQ faintly recall sporting the infamous bell bottoms back in our middle school days (and still cringe at the thought...) This look is hard to pull off - unless of course you're Karlie Kloss and you've got it going on. If you're digging that 70s style, head over to the NYTimes Fashion & Style section for a little blast from the past. I think I'll stick with this decade, thank you very much.

 5. BUCKET BAGS What's on your bucket list?   This 'it' accessory has inspired the collections of designers around the world, from the fashion houses of Marc Jacobs, Gucci and Saint Laurent, to the storefronts of popular (and affordable!) brands like Zara and Old Navy. Stop by InStyle for The Ultimate Guide to Spring's Best Bucket Bags! We've got our eye on a few statement bucket bags from Greek designer Thiros - keep a look out fashionistas, they're coming soon to LILA Fashion International.

6. FRINGE
Fashion darlings like Olivia P. have us second guessing 'fringe'. Always so 'on trend', Ms. Palermo makes this textured style look TOTALLY covetable. Fringe (another 70s style heating up the runway!) was one of the biggest trends seen at New York Fashion Week this past February, appearing in the collections of designers like Ralph Lauren and Mara Hoffman. According to HuffPost, "Though fringe might seem like a trickier trend to pull off, it works really well on coats, jackets and skirts, as well as on accessories like handbags and shoes. Needless to say, you can wear it just about anywhere." Get the full article here.

7. THE CHUNKY HEEL A growing trend among the fashionable set, the chunky heel is officially 'happening' and we can't get enough of it. From Dolce & Gabbana and Dior, to Gucci and Tory Burch, we've seen the chunky heel on fashion bloggers and the fashionable elite, style influencers, celebrities and the 'on trend' working girls who just don't miss a beat. We're especially loving the swoon-worthy chunky heels of Australian shoe designer Senso. A style must-have, wouldn't you agree?

8. THE CAP TOE The classic (and tres chic!) cap toe graced the runway in Chanel's Parisian Cafe-style Fall 2015 show for Paris Fashion Week earlier this month. And it made a statement, in a MAJOR way. (Get highlights from the runway show in Vogue) If you can't afford a pair of pricey Chanel's, designers like Tory Burch, J.Crew and Cole Haan are taking this trend to the next level with their own inspired interpretations of the classic shoe.

9. THE GLADIATOR The gladiator sandal - with its classical Greek roots - never goes out of style. And as Greek-American gals, we couldn't agree more! Quickly becoming one of the season's hottest shoe trends (as if Paris Fashion Week weren't indication enough) the gladiator is a statement maker you'll WANT to get your hands on. According to Harper's Bazaar's Chrissy Rutherford, "Designers offered up every variation on the sandal—Valentino, Chloé and Stella McCartney embraced their inner bohemian with simple laced-up versions, while Balmain and Isabel Marant conjured up warrior-like sandals. Whether you're a lover or a fighter, you'll look decidedly chic in any of these options." For a guide to spring sandal styles, head over to InStyle! We're lusting after the stylish leather sandals and gladiators by Love from Cyprus -  coming soon to LILA Fashion International, all the way from the Mediterranean!

10.  LACE UPS Topping the list as one of the best shoe trends of 2015 is the ballet styled lace up - but you already knew that. Sexy enough to inspire a shoe revolution, the lace up has been dominating the world of Instagram and Pinterest in every cut, color, style and design imaginable. Much to our heart's content. Step aside Valentino Rockstud's - we've got a new reigning queen. And we'll be stepping out in these beauties come warmer weather.

11. ROUNDED SUNGLASSES Oversized sunnies are all the rage. And we're absolutely loving Vogue's latest feature on The Best (and Biggest) Shades for Sexy Selfies this Spring. And we're adding a few of our own top picks to the list -- the oh-so-covetable oversized sunnies from Zylo eyewear! Hand-crafted from wood and brought to you all the way from the sun-drenched Greek isle of Syros in the Mediterranean - stay tuned, they're coming soon to LILA Fashion International.
