Fall Classic

Fall Classic

Boho Chic was a trend touched on quite recently as you may recall for summer (catch the post here, if you missed it), but did I mention that bohemian also translates beautifully for fall? You bet it's seasonally appropriate, and it's been identified as one of those closet keepers that you can continue to style over and over again, just so long as you transition the basics. What exactly do I mean by this? Quite simply, that as the weather turns crisper and you need a little extra coverage, consider layering a light tissue turtleneck under your garment IF it allows for one; opt for leggings or tights; and try pairing your flats or sandals (I do NOT mean Birkenstocks, TYVM) with statement socks. Ankle boots, or booties per the fashion lingo, are a classic alternative if you're not yet ready to push the envelope with the socks. To be honest, I haven't decided whether I'm loving or hating this trend. What do you think?

In the look I'm styling for this shoot, I've slipped into one of my favorite pre-fall pieces. I shopped this floral shirt dress around this time last year, and only had a chance to wear it a handful of times before the temps turned frigid. It was MADE for September weather. I love how loosely fitted and flowing it is; it drapes beautifully and moves so ethereally when I walk. It also pairs perfectly with leggings, which I wear almost daily from October through March. No joke. As the material is lightweight, it's great for layering. I could easily add a tee or turtleneck, as suggested above, for a little extra warmth, or layer a cardigan or leather jacket over it (depending on the vibe I'm going for). For my accessories, I've kept it simple - black. It goes with everything, and I rely on it heavily to get through the season. I've cinched the dress with a black waist belt, to lend the look some structure, and complemented it with a leather Skull Clutch (available in the web shop!) and platform sandals. I'll fess up - I'm not sure if I'm ready to start pairing socks with these platforms, so I'll likely retire these beauties to my closet within the next couple of weeks - until next spring!

As for my jewelry, I'm styling the Cherry Blossom Necklace, in Coconut and Guava, from the LILA Luxe Collection. Each piece is handmade in Greece, with Swarovski crystals and sterling silver accent beads, and available in the web shop in additional colors! I've also layered a chunky gold bracelet with with my tortoiseshell watch, which ties in beautifully with the gold detailing on the belt.

I'd love to hear how you transition favorite summer pieces into fall. All for now. xo
