This is How we South Beach
This is How we South Beach

When tulle made its debut as a hot trend this past season, many weren't quite sure what to make of it. It was a hit with the fashion bloggers, the celebrities, the social set and such, but the pervading question was how the everyday woman - yes, the likes of you and me - could infuse it into our daily style, without looking like a trussed up cupcake.
Our newest designer - Mehtap Elaidi of Turkey - was thankfully, able to answer that question, with a collection that paid homage to the frill, the ruffle and the tulle, in a fanciful, yet understated fashion. One of our favorite pieces from the brand's new line, the Flowers Top as styled below by local fashionista Jasmine Daniels, features soft pink pinstripe and hand-embroidered floral on tulle sleeve. Completely dreamy, right? We thought so too.
Classic pinstripe also reemerged as a popular clothing style among both the high-end and more mainstream designers like Zara, Madame Shou Shou and Mango. It was also used as inspiration for shoes, which designers like Lolo the Ballerina executed beautifully in the design of their Capri Copper Ballerina and Charleston T-Strap Flat. And we were hungry for it. The speed at which this style has been adopted into our closets has been astounding; though this is just from an observational standpoint. Do you agree? [Read more about this trend in our recent post, Bring on the Pinstripe & Lace].
In a South Beach inspired look, Jasmine styled the Flowers Top with skinny denim and flats by British designer Yull. The Pimlico Flats are handmade from leather in the UK and feature a playful palm print (if you dig this.... you'll love our palm printed Harrogate Sandal as well!). She also opted for a 'My Passport' Green Barrel Bag from our new collection by Vice Versa, which features Swarovski crystal studding on the fastening strap. So fun, right? The barrels are handmade from raw Greek leather in Athens, Greece, and come in two delightful sizes! You're looking at the mini. This season, our e-shop is bursting with with these barrels in a spectrum of bright, seasonally appropriate colors. We can't think of a better accessory to accompany you on all of you travels (South America, Cuba or even Europe, perhaps?) this summer. Explore the full collection.
To polish off the look, Jas is sporting the OHTO Modenia sunglasses. We love the story behind the entire collection by Zylo Eyewear. Each pair of sunglasses, including the pair styled, is handcrafted from wood on the Greek isle of Syros in the Mediterranean, where the brand is headquartered. What makes each pair truly exceptional is that all the different species of wood - modenia, bubinga, rosewood, purple heart & oak and so forth - that are used to craft them is sourced directly from the island, so no two pairs are the same. Pretty darn cool, huh? You'll also spot a necklace from LILA's own jewelry collection in this look. Each statement piece is inspired by the vibrancy and culture of Athens, where the collection is designed and handmade, and may feature genuine gemstones, freshwater pearls, Swarovski crystals, and sterling silver beads and accents. Shop our full collection in-store and select pieces in at LILA online!
We hope you love this look as much as we loved pulling it together. Let us know if there's anything you'd like to see featured in our next blog. xo
